Easy Hamburger Bake

1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cups tomato sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 clove minced garlic
3/4 tsp. pepper
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup sliced green onion
2 cups noodles, any kind
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Break up ground beef and cook in frying pan with onion. Add spices and tomato sauce and heat through until meat is cooked. Set aside. Meanwhile cook noodles in boiling water. In separate bowl mix sour cream with green onion. Drain noodles and layer half of them in an oblong baking dish. Spoon 1/2 meat mixture over top of noodles. Add 1/2 sour cream mixture on top of meat. Repeat layers. Top with shredded Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Great covered dish for a 4th of July picnic.

Ice Box Cookies

2 cups brown sugar
2 and 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Mix soda with flour. Add brown sugar, butter and eggs. Stir until well blended. Add nuts into dough and mix well. Shape dough into a log, wrap with waxed paper and place in the refrigerator for the night. The next day (or days later) slice dough into cookies, bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Remove from baking sheet and allow to cool before eating. Dough will keep for about a week in the "ice box". A fun,
old-fashioned treat.
