Pizza Burgers

2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 white or yellow onion, diced
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground thyme
1 clove garlic, finely minced
1/2 pound shredded cheddar cheese
12 hamburger rolls
Thoroughly brown ground beef and onions until meat is cooked and onions are clear. Add tomato sauce and spices. Simmer for 20 minutes until sauce thickens. Meanwhile, place bottom part of hamburger rolls on baking sheet. Spoon meat mixture evenly onto rolls. Sprinkle each with cheese. Place other half of rolls on top. Bake in a medium oven (350 degrees) for fifteen minutes. Easy and delicious, and a favorite with the kids.

Fresh Strawberry Pie

1 baked pie shell, cooled
1 quart fresh strawberries, cut up
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup strawberry juice and water, combined
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1-3 oz. package strawberry gelatin
whipped cream for topping
Place hulled and cut-up berries in a large bowl. Top with sugar and allow to sit for a while (an hour or overnight) in the refrigerator to create juice. Remove strawberry juice from bowl, add enough water to make one cup. Pour into medium saucepan until just boiling. Add cornstarch and gelatin. Stir until well blended. Pour over the berries in the bowl. Allow to set until mixture is thickened slightly. Pour into baked and cooled pie shell, and allow to firm up in a cool place. Top with whipped cream. A favorite at July 4th picnics.
