Editor's Letter
Abraham Lincoln once noted that “We cannot escape history.” And we at The Gettysburg Experience not only agree, we think taking a look back is the best way to start off the New Year. As 2012 unfolds, we are happy to bring you our updated Calendar of Events. A few delicious recipes, and a selection of articles describing eras of the past to keep you interested through the chill of winter.
In honor of Presidents’ Day, we offer The Making of a President, a depiction of the early years of Abraham Lincoln. We chronicle the happenings of a century ago in One Hundred Years Ago: The Year 1912. (We were amazed at the parallels with modern times!) Michael Dreese is back to offer a wonderful piece in time for Valentine’s Day with A Battlefield Love Story. And, our 150 Years Ago series continues with War Heats Up.
Many of our advertisers have been with us from the beginning, and without them this publication would not be possible. Please take a moment and see what they have to offer – there are many special offers at this time of year. We shop at their establishments too, and highly recommend them.
Thank you for choosing The Gettysburg Experience, an integral part of Gettysburg since 1997.
Sincerely,
Diana Loski, Editor
